Panzer Division Kurmark (Germany) : ウィキペディア英語版 | Panzergrenadier Division Kurmark The Panzergrenadier Division "Kurmark" was a semi-armoured formation of the Germany Army during World War II. It was raised in February 1945 to stop the Soviet offensive against the German capital of Berlin. It was named after the Kurmark region of Brandenburg. ==History== The division was formed at Frankfurt on the Oder in March 1945 from elements of the Grossdeutschland Panzer Grenadier Ersatz Brigade. It was no more than an understrength unit formed from remnants, thrown into battle to halt the Soviet onslaught into the German heartland. The division was part of the German 9th Army (Army Group Vistula) and was deployed around Frankfurt on the Oder. It was surrounded alongside other Wehrmacht and SS formations of the 9th Army south-east of Berlin. Remnants of the Panzergrenadier Division Kurmark managed to break the pocket and reached Jerichow on the Elbe where they surrendered to the Americans (May 1945).
